Why does auron use one arm

The myth was that ronin masterless samurai would wear only one sleeve for being disgraced in losing their master. Auron wears one sleeve for disgrace but not in the same way as the ronin myth. In one of the Jecht Spheres, Braska talks about the irony of a man from Zanarkand, a disgraced monk, and a summoner who wed an Al Bhed being the ones who might defeat Sin. Leaving an arm out of your sleeve has nothing to do with disgrace.

It was just a common trend among samurai in general. User Info: Duke Darkwood. From everything I was able to find out last time this was asked, it's this.

Japanese filmmakers romanticized the ronin way of life, the same way American filmmakers romanticized the cowboy way of life in the era of the big "Westerns". And in both cases, certain characteristics were attributed to make these characters easily identifiable to audiences. I mean, if you were watching a western, and someone rides in wearing a ten-gallon hat, leather boots that go up to their thighs, and carry a six at their side, you know that's the cowboy. You don't have to be told.

You just know. The imagery is iconic. Whether or not it is accurate is irrelevant. Well, the same thing happened in Japan. In the case of movie ronin, the "one arm out of the sleeve" thing and the jug of sake were used.

He could have sustained a majority of his lethal injury on his left side, and since it wasn't meant to heal, may have not healed correctly, thus restraining his arm a bit. Or causing him pain. Nope, he uses his arm just fine in battle. It is a ronin symbol. Their honor is "damaged" because they allowed their master to die so they walk around like they have a damaged sword arm.

It's actually very comfortable to be walking around with one of your arms like that, at least if it feels rested. Try it. Unfortunate side effect: That arm will get weaker if you keep doing that.

When he became Yunas guardian it was out of a promise to another person, not out of choice as much as it could have been, it was something that had to be done.

Also the nature of Braska would tell me that he didnt see Auron as inferior and the three jecht included where friends and not a master-defender relationship. I suppose his faith in Yevon has something to do with it too, once he learnt the truth it destroyed his faith. Don't have an account? Sign up for free!

It's a reference to samurai's, where warriors who have ashamed themselves one way or another would hide their other arm as an act to show their dishonor.

This fits Auron rather well. He is merely straight realistic and to the point. Howbeit, he can be tactful on occasion and he will once in a while show his distaste for certain members of the Yevon clergy.

Although he is always quite smug about being ten steps ahead of everyone he does this for a reason. To show to my wife and kid, you know. Lord Braska had to pay the handler for damages from his own travel money. Only thing I drink from now on is shoopuf milk! I wonder if you remember me? Ten years ago? I should thank you. I could not leave a wounded man to die. However, I was surprised to see you gone the next morning, with that wound. An ordinary man would not have been able to walk.

But my strength left me just outside Bevelle. I told him about Yuna… just before I died. Being dead has its advantages. I was able to ride Sin and go to your Zanarkand. But it is life.
