How fast is western digital intellipower

Joined Aug 30, Messages 4, 0. I had 3 Seagates die last year and a Toshiba die today. All HDDs pretty much suck. There are no black IntelliPower drives so please only IntelliPower drives.

In readouts on HDTune the head park count could pose an alarm to some but this is the way the power saving series is designed. Having whats considered a high head park count is far better than seeing a CRC error count. All intelli-power seems to do besides 'save power' is keep the hard drive cool. Bare in mind this is my internal storage drive which is primarily used for applications, drivers and media but does get used on a daily basis due to media.

Had this drive for over a couple of years now I think. Joined Oct 2, Messages 13, 2. Can't say anything bad about WD really. I have my 2TB Caviar Black for ages. Sister had a GB Caviar Blue in notebook which was like 5 or 6 years old. Have placed it in an enclosure as external drive which she still uses.

Replaced it with another Caviar Blue, this time GB version. I think it's 2 years old now. Samsung GB started with hiccups after just 2 years and Seagate Momentus It works ok but CDI is reporting issues with transfers, apparently electronics are going all wonky. That is one solid drive. This means the hard drive will only spin under RPM when the device is under heavy load while decreasing its rotational speed in non-demanding circumstances down to RPM. This is because the WD Green family of hard drives was designed for power-saving and low-noise above all else.

Bit of a cheat by WD to market stuff like that, but I appreciate the knowledge. Western Digital, please, please, please stop perpetuating this dishonest, deceptive IntelliPower marketing nonsense.

Even your own staff have been, and continue to be, deceived by it. If you navigate to the bottom of the page and zoom up the fine print about 10 times, you will see the following statement:. In reality IntelliPower is a fine-tuned balance of spindoctoring and technobabble designed to obfuscate the actual rotational speed. Where did this disinformation originate, and how did it become so widespread? No doubt WD has taken cynical advantage of this [Deleted].

Please stop now. I urge those people who have been duped by this IntelliPower nonsense to demand a refund. I would also very much like to see a photo of the packaging. Notice that the band of access time data points is about 11 msec wide. This corresponds to the time required for one complete revolution at RPM. The width for a RPM drive would be 8.

Can you post a picture of the packaging and where it says rpm? Wow fzakbar, lots of info. I have taken the links and will be reading them. What software do you recommend to read the drive?
